ST. JOHNSBURY — As part of her senior Capstone project, St. Johnsbury Academy student Erin Langlais researched different non-pharmaceutical methods to minimize preoperative anxiety in children. Her childhood experiences in hospitals inspired her to create, then donate five bright-patterned surgical gowns to local pediatric patients at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH). Because of Erin's project, "children at NVRH will get to choose their own surgical gown," said director of perioperative services Pete Tomczyk, RN, in accepting the gift. In addition to Tomczyk, Albert Fisher, CRNA, and Deane Rankin, MD assisted Langlais throughout the project.
