Preparing for a hurricane: What supplies you need in your kit
With the warmer weather quickly approaching, now is the time to prepare for hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30.
Everyone usually remembers food and water, but what about medicine, insurance policies (home and auto), and other important documents?
Here is a list of supplies and documents you should have ready in your "go bag" or supply kit, according to FEMA and the American Red Cross.

At least a three-day supply of non-perishable food for evacuation, two-week supply for home. And make sure to pack a manual can opener.
